Book Review: Wake By: Lisa McMann

Not all dreams are sweet.

For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody- notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.

She can't tell anybody about what she does — they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can't control.

Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant....

Characters: 16/20

Plot: 18/20

Originality: 18/20

Writing: 15/20

Recommendation: 17/20

Overall: 84 or "B"

The Characters in the book wasn't a strong point for me. I found it hard to connect with Janie because of how the author chose to write the book. So it may just be me, but I wasn't to fond of the characters in this book. The plot was good. I really liked reading about other people's dreams and such, so that was a stronger point for me. The book I feel was very original, at least I haven't read another like it. The writing was...lets say not my cup of tea. I tried to get into it, but she wrote in such short bursts. What I mean is, she's all over the place in her writing style, in my opinion and I'm not the only person who thinks that way. I think the writing is mostly what keeps this book from being amazing. This book would've been almost an "A" if it wasn't for the writing. My overall recommendation would be, probably a good book, but it wasn't my favorite. Although, don't let me stop you from reading this book because I didn't like the writing. Believe me, this is far from a bad book. I've given books "F"'s already. So people might enjoy this, some may not. I will probably buy the next two books in the trilogy to find out what happens next, but lets just say I wouldn't cry if they suddenly stopped selling them. Sorry!

Book Review: Tweet heart By: Elizabeth Rudnick

Claire is a #hopelessromantic. Lottie is determined to set up her BFF with Mr. Perfect. Will wants his #secretcrush to finally notice him. Bennett is a man with a plan.

Claire can’t believe it when her dream guy starts following her on Twitter. She never thought he noticed her, and suddenly he seems to understand her better than almost anyone.

But the Twitterverse can be a confusing place, especially when friends act differently online than they do in person. Things get even more complicated when Claire realizes she’s falling for someone else, the last person she ever would have expected….

Told in an innovative format combining tweets, emails, and blogs, Tweet Heart is a contemporary romantic comedy that will set your heart atwitter.

Overall: 99 or A+

The characters are the only thing that didn't get a perfect score for this book and I'll tell you why. Claire. Simple as that. She was a little bit whiney for me, you may feel different. Almost a little to overly dramatic. Also, I wasn't a huge fan of Will, call me crazy, but I felt like the author made him try to hard to be perfect. Obviously he had a slip up in the story, which I won't go into detail. I really liked Bennet and lottie, they were my favorite because they were really funny and entertaining. The plot was typical high School, guy hurts girl type of thing, but I really enjoyed how she played out the plot. Very entertaining and enjoyable. I can't say that I have ever heard of an other more creative than this. The conflict was common for the most part, but the way she wrote the book made it an enjoyable read. I mean who has read a book before this one, in all emails, blogs, and tweets? I never have. So that was very unique and I really liked it anyway. The writing from what I said was self-explanatory, I really enjoyed it and it really stuck out from any other book. i wasn't positive that I would like it at first, AT ALL, but I actually really liked it. I would recommend this book to anyone. Guys, girls, whoever and I'll tell you why. Some guys would look at this cover and say "Hmmm, girly book. That's a no.", but I'll tell you what, there was a lot of guy problems in there that a guy could relate to easily. I know I did. So don't let the cover stop you, guys. Girls will enjoy this simply because it's how they would say "cute, and fun.", but yeah you'll defintely remember this book from all the others you've read. Although, the writing may not be for everybody, I wouldn't let that stop you because you'd be passing up a really good story.
